August 2006

Greetings from all of us at Rainbow Ranch Lodge

This summer's warm sunny days and cool evenings have been perfect for enjoying all that the lodge has to offer. A typical day starts with a fresh pot of coffee and a newspaper delivered to your room where you can relax and enjoy in the Adirondack chair on your deck overlooking the river.

Then, once caffeinated and caught up with current events, it is time for fly fishing the trout-laden waters of the Gallatin River or perhaps horseback riding through fields of wild flowers (and catching a glimpse of a momma griz with her 3 cubs).

And after a day in the Montana outdoors nothing is quite like sitting in the shade of your deck soaking up the magnificent views while sampling wine from the lodge's vast wine selection.

Then it is time for a sumptuous dinner at the Rainbow Ranch Restaurant with a variety of fresh fish, wild game and local produce that are sure to please the most discriminating of palates.

And as you watch the sun set, you know the best part of all this is that you get to do it all again tomorrow.

A passion for exceptional food

At the Rainbow Ranch Lodge and Restaurant Proprietor Patrick Hurd and Chef Tom Donohoe's passion for exceptional food means using locally grown and conscientiously raised products as often as possible.

Not only does this make the food taste better it is also better for you and for our environment. You can taste the difference when you eat pork from a pig raised to roam freely on Miller's Farm in Montana's Paradise Valley and fed only natural grains. Or beef from a Scottish Highlands Cow raised to roam freely at Ross Peak Ranch grazing on natural Montana grass and grains.

Buying local also allows us to develop long-term relationships with our purveyors, like Matt and Jacy Rothschiller of Gallatin Valley Botanicals who supply many of our fresh herbs and produce for several years.

At the Rainbow Ranch Lodge and Restaurant we take pride in knowing we prepare dishes for our guests with ingredients raised/grown by our friends and neighbors right here in southwest Montana.

The following organizations, of which we are members, share our passion:
The Slow Food Movement
The Chef's Collaborative
